How Your Gift Supports Rigpa's Work
In general, it is most helpful if your legacy or donation to the Tertön Sogyal foundations is not designated for any specific purpose. This allows the members of the board maximum flexibility to allocate funds where they will have the greatest effect and benefit, at any given moment in time.
Short-Term and Medium-Term Objectives – In allocating your gift, the Rigpa Executive Board and the Rigpa Investment Board will balance short and medium-term objectives with the long-term goal of supporting Rigpa’s work through the Rigpa Endowment Fund. Therefore your donation may be directed for the immediate benefit of a particular Rigpa centre, project or assigned fully or in part to the Rigpa Endowment Fund.
According to the advice of some great Tibetan Buddhist masters, the current focus of the Endowment Fund will be supporting the following key aspects of Rigpa’s work and future:
1. The training and support of practitioners, scholars, translators and teachers who will continue the traditions of study and practice established by Rigpa for the benefit of future generations (including the Scholarship Fund).
2. Preserving and making available the unique collection of teachings given by Rigpa and other great Tibetan Buddhist masters within Rigpa, over the past three decades.
3. The support and development of Dharma centres throughout the world that share a connection to Rigpa, in particular, those centres dedicated to retreat, transmission of the teachings, and care for the elderly, sick and dying.
4. The creation of communities where senior members of the Rigpa Sangha and other Buddhist practitioners can spend the remaining years of their life deepening their spiritual path, devoting their time to retreat, study and practice.
Naturally, if you have a special affinity or heart connection to a particular Rigpa centre or project, or the long-term goal of the endowment, and would like to dedicate your gift accordingly, you can indicate your wishes to the Tertön Sogyal Foundation Board of Directors in writing.
In Memory of a Loved One – Your bequest can be made in your own name or dedicated in memory or honour of someone close to you.
